Suze and I checked out the facilities at Powerhouse Museum's Textiles Centre. The museum has a free Open Weekend next weekend and some lace making might be demonstrated there.
I will be at April Lace Day, hopefully to check the Archives for my research on Australian/New Zealand bobbins and take some photos of archived lace for publicity purposes (photo plus a story). My preparation for the self-help group sessions on Czech tulle lace at June and August Lace Days is going well, see attached. Working very large has felt like throwing rope around horses. Regards, Rod When? Saturday 19 March from 10am to 5pm Sunday 20 March from 10am to 5pm We are looking forward to starting back again for social lace at the Powerhouse Museum in 2022. What are your lace activities for 2021?
On the 12-13 June 2021 the symposium will be held live online & the workshops with some of the most talented lace makers around will go live! Early bird discounts are for the 30th November 2021. Sustaining creativity, sustaining traditions and technical know-how, and sustaining our community.
Sadly we have to cancel our weekend in October 2020 BUT Good news is that due to the generosity of Janet of Yarrawonga Lace & the other groups along the Murray we will have our Bobbin Along the Murray in Murray Bridge next year. This will be 22-23 & 24th October 2021.
(Fingers & toes crossed that Corona Virus won’t stop us) If you are all in agreement we will continue to hold your registration & bobbin money for next year. If anyone will not be able to attend we will refund your money & forward any bobbins ordered to you. I would also ask that you tell anyone that you may know who was coming of the cancellation. Just in case we miss advising someone. Lastly we have held of as long as we could hoping things would get better. Here in S.A. we have been very lucky with the corona virus as it seems to have stayed away from us. We would like you all to know that we are thinking of you all & hoping that each & everyone of you stay well & safe.
